Fall in Southern Illinois is absolutely gorgeous and we are so lucky to live here! I know as a local we struggle with always finding something to do or forgetting about the best places! I wanted to create a blog post with all the top places in one spot to plan your next adventure!

Top Fall Activites: Southern Illinois

  1. Rendleman Orchards has a little bit for everyone in the family! Between peach and apple season they welcome 1,000s of visitors from all over and have created experiences for young to old. They offer food trucks on the weekends and an abundance of photo opportunities to share your experience on “the gram”. Be sure to check their Facebook page to stay up to date! Their website is full of information about the farm market, their flower fields and you are able to order lots of goodies!

2. SIU Football Games I will scream this from the rooftops get out and GO TO an SIU football game! They are so much fun to attend. You can support the local univeristy, tailgate with friends and enjoy the gorgeous weather we have here in Southern Ilinois. Check the schedule to see when SIU plays at home and snag tickets as low as $8. You will not be disappointed when it comes to supporting the home team.

3. Bandy’s Pumpkin Patch is open seasonally each year and provides the best fall experience to your little ones! Whether you are going to buy your annual pumpkins or to have some fall family fun also known as forced family fun you will find it here at Bandy’s.

4. The Patch located east of Marion is a family owned business providing loads of activites for kiddos of all ages. Be sure to check their facebook page for the most up to date events and hours of operation. They have the cutest displays for photo opportunities all across the property.

5. Hiking Shawnee National Forrest—the limit does ont exist here in Southern Illinois when it comes to hiking. There is every level of hiking for those visitng or those who live local! Two of my favorite trails are Cove Hollow and the Little Grand Canyon! What is nice about both of these trails is that they offer a little bit of everything for everyone depending on your skill level!

7. Breweries—I bet you had no idea that we have some amazing breweries right here in Southern Illinois! Between the Big Muddy Brew Fest and St. Nick’s three amazing locations you will always find an abundance of good beer right here in Southern Illinois. You have some amazing places like Scratch . Brewery and Route 51 Brewery.

8. Breezy Hill Farms offers loads of activities for the kids, a general store with and another place to buy pumpkins and mums! Don’t leave without trying the petting zoo and corn maze! The possibilities are endless at the farm and you won’t want to miss out on the fun!
