Wild One First Birthday Party

As I sit down to write this blog post I realize wow I have spent a lot of time on a one years old birthday and cash! This might not be for you but I am so happy we had a big party! We somehow invited over 40 people and had friends fly and drive in for the party! It was so special to have all of our favorite people in town to celebrate!

As I started planning I spent a little time on Pinterest just checking party themes. We ended up going with Wild Things/wild one party based off of the book where the wild things are! It’s perfect for him because he is LEGIT wild! After I decided on a theme i knew I didn’t want it to be too kiddish so I fed adulted it up some! I found this Etsy shop and she was amazing in designing his party invites! I was so thrilled with how they turned out! You can see the example here in this link!

Next came the decor! I reached out to a local company called Deliciously Ordinary about decorating! I had a vibe I wanted and she helped me see that clearly. She sent me with a list of EVERYTHING I needed and provided decor and supplies for serving as well! She came into my home decorated and really saw my vision! She created the balloon garland! She provided me with the drink servers, trays for cookies, the white fur rug and the cake stand!

I actually ordered a white fur runner off of amazon that we used for the dessert table! It also worked well as a Christmas tree skirt!

When I was searching for the high chair for his party I was googling them and everything i found was like $200-300 so I asked my grandma to look at some auctions and she found exactly what I was looking for and only paid $1! She actually ended up finding me two! The high chair banner I found was also on Etsy and it fit the party perfectly! I ordered the signs for the party also off of Etsy and they were instant download and I actually had them printed to Walgreens and I taped them to a foam board and cut them out. It was super easy and a saved me like $70.

For his birthday outfit I ordered a full “get up” off of amazon but I found a crown off of etsy I LOVED! I did not put any words on the crown. I just ordered it plain.

For those local to Southern Illinois I utilized Larry’s House of Cakes for the cake which was a three tier 8 inch round naked iced cake. I ordered the cake topper off of Etsy. For Elliott’s smash cake I just simply picked up a cake that was premade at Larry’s with white icing and a gold “one” so that it was super simple. I displayed the big cake on a faux slice of tree wood cake stand that Deliciously Ordinary provided. To spice up our cake because we ordered a very generic one, Lindsey added greenery to the cake to make it fit our theme a little more. For the cookies I ordered from Cristaudo’s and I simply showed them some ideas off of my pinterest board and they were able to tell me what they were allowed to do based off of copyrights.

The chalkboard that we used was made by a company called Slate of Grace. You can find her on instagram @slateofgrace. She is based out of Indianapolis. I sent her information on Elliott and a copy of the invitation so that we were able to have the same vibe. I think she really crushed the look I wanted.

We had a “crown yourself” station on the table that we used a center piece. We got the crowns from Amazon and it was the perfect addition to our decor. Another fun piece of decor was our teepee. We purchased ours at Sam’s Club but I have seen some super cute ones on Amazon. I found some super cute wood sliced round trays at Target that fit the theme perfectly!

There were several “memory” type things we did for this party. First off we hired a photographer to take pictures of the party so we did not feel obligated to take photos. THIS WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER! I legit did nothing with my phone and I was able to completely just enjoy the party with my family and friends. We also had people write their name and leave a message in a book for Elliott. Of course we chose the book "Where the wild things are” because well it is the theme!
