Nursery Tour

So when we initially found out we were pregnant we knew we were not going to find out the gender. Everyone’s first question was but what will you do about the nursery???? The one thing I knew was I wanted a wallpaper wall and that was it. Everything else we could figure out along the way. The shiplap wallpaper I found on Wayfair and it was relatively easy for my husband to install. If there is interest along the way for him to post videos of him doing stuff we absolutely will. Other things my husband built for the nursery were all of the floating shelves. He does all the cuts, painting and install! He is pretty handy to have around. ALSO!!! My changing pad I wanted something to hold it in place so my husband built this custom box for me and used the leftover paint from our dresser for that.

Okkk moving on! First off the biggest thing people worry about. Where the kid will sleep. We picked out this Pottery Barn crib and I love it. It does have the option of buy a toddler bed convertible but I am all about containing him as long as possible. We purchased all of our crib sheets from Pottery Barn as well they were apart of their West Elm Collaboration.

I chose this specific rocker/recliner from Pottery barn because it was a wingback chair. It for sure came in handy on middle of the night feeds when I wanted to rest my head somewhere. The elephant was probably a little excessive and rarely ever used but I purchased also from Pottery barn and I just love it in his nursery. I purchased the rug from Target in store which for Southern Illinois mommas is huge because well we don’t have a lot of local options. I am sure you can just do a simple google search white furry rugs and find lots of options.

The next big piece of furniture in the nursery was the dresser. I found this dresser on the Facebook Marketplace and we had someone local redo this piece for us. Her name is Jenna Schulz and she did an amazing job. We were so happy with this piece. It did come with an attached mirror that we had redone to match but I found this gold round mirror at Target and I just love it in this space.

Another question I am asked a lot is what baby monitor we use. We knew we did not want to use a baby specific monitor. We wanted to use a technology that would last us awhile. We had an amazon echo and we have amazon fire sticks as well in the house. We chose the amazon cloud cameras because we could “Alexa show me the nursery”. Now we have three amazon enabled devices and we love them. Two of the devices are the tablets from amazon. It has been nice to have these extra tablets to use as our monitors and use for travel. Another benefit we have with amazon cloud cameras is we can use our phones as the monitor as well because we just download the cloud camera app. You are able to add cameras to your house and label. We even brought the camera on vacation with us and used our phone to check on him. We also used a wire cover for the wall that is paintable. You can find them online or we bought at our local Best Buy. They paint so easily and are super helpful.

My gallery wall was super fun because we used our maternity pictures to decorate the nursery. I know that Elliott won’t forever love bump pictures in his room but for now I love them and they tell our story. We framed them using these frames, ordered the prints from Shutterfly and the amazing Britni Woodworth photography took our photos.

Elliott’s name sign was late addition to the nursery because we did not know his name until he was born. I searched far and wide for the perfect sign. A family friend of mine owns a company called Hazelbee and she does custom signs, photography and somewood work like the Elliott sign. She is local to Springfield, IL but her sister delivered to me in Marion when she was in town for a baseball tournament. If you are local to Illinois this is an amazing option for a sign. It is made out of solid wood and just gorgeous. You can actually search Hazelbee on facebook and find her there.

I am not 100% on where I picked up the curtains but they are blackout shades as well. I believe they are most likely from Target. For those local to Southern Illinois our Target has a good selection of blackout shades! The curtain rod is light gold and I found it on wayfair.

My small side table was an auction find by my grandmother and it was $1 and I spray painted it gold to match the room.

The gold giraffe statue and the giraffe large print were both Hobby Lobby finds. Our large stuffed giraffe was from a local boutique but you can find him on amazon as well.

Have a tour of the nursery below and feel free to ask questions.
