Rendlemans Cottage: Alto Pass, IL
This blog post was a long time coming but I am so glad I get to finally put it together! This summer I had the opportunity to have an overnight stay at the Rendlemans Cottage which is located on the actual property of Rendlemans Orchard. It was one of those overnight getaways that brings so much joy to your soul. The cottage is nestled in between orchards on the farm providing a true immersive experience. Michelle and Wayne have truly thought of everything when stocking this property. The farm house is about 25 minutes from Murphysboro/Carbondale area and 2 hours from St. Louis, MO if looking for a getaway out of the city.
Within the farm experience you have access to a golf cart (for an extra fee) rental, chickens to collect eggs, a pond for fishing, fire pit for s’mores, a smart TV for those quiet movie nights in, a full kitchen and a telescope to explore the night sky! My friend and I used this getaway as a little mom-cation where we could lounge in robes, watch trash TV, eat yummy food and just relax. One thing about Rendlemans is that I have worked with them for several years and basically trust them with my life. They are some of the best business owners in the Southern Illinois region so I knew that they would do their BnB justice and create a unforgettable experience and visit!
Before we checked into the farm we grabbed Lunch and some snack items from Faye in downtown Murphysboro,IL. Don’t forget to snag some pimento cheese and sausage from 17th street for a little late night snack. The fridge at the cottage has farm fresh eggs and frozen Faye biscuits so you can throw together a yummy breakfast sandwich at the farm! Keep scrolling to see what all there is a to do in the region!.
The other great thing about the farm cottage is you are nestled into the Shawnee National Forrest with the Shawnee Hills Wine trail. So whether you are looking for a hiking afternoon or a visit to the wineries you can do both while visiting. Some of my favorite trails close to the farm are Cove Hollow Trail, Quetil Trail, Little Grand Canyon and Pomona Natural Bridge. Also a visit to Bald Knob cross at sunset or sunrise is something that everyone should experience.
Perks to staying on the farm—access to the flower fields
